Setting up accounts and mailing lists for users from MIT

MIT login and email account

The MITHIG group uses the Oracle based, central MIT TechTime calendar service to schedule all group meetings. Please register for a calendar account here: TechTime. All the instructions are there, but if you have any questions ask Anna

LNS and Tier-3 login accounts

Fill out the Form at the CMSAF home page. This will trigger the creation of three different accounts:

1. An LNS login account, which gives acces to the centrally managed LNS servers and desktops.
2. A CMSAF login account allowing you to logging on the CMS Tier-3.
3. A TWiki account, needed for access to our TWiki based web pages

You will receive multiple emails with the details of your new accounts.

CERN login account and CMS registration

Fill out the CERN User Registration Form and the CMS Registration Form and turn these along with your passport in to Anna. Anna will scan your passport and return it to you. The forms will be faxed to the CMS Secretariat and you will receive an email confirmation of your account from CERN.

Register yourself for CMS HyperNews system using these Steps. Then subscribe at least to Heavy Ion Physics in the Physics category.

Grid certificate

A grid certificate provides user authentication for grid services at the MIT Tier-2 and other CMS affiliated or opportunisitically available grid sites. Follow the step at Certificate Procedures at the USCMS web site. During step 3, provide:

• Affiliation: OSG
• VO Name for OSG: CMS

and as sponsor information:

Contact Maarten to let him know you requested the certificate! You will receive email when your certificate is ready.

CMS VO Membership

First arrange for a CERN login with CMS registration and obtain a grid certificate. Then register with the CMS VO (Virtual Organization) using these steps starting with the third step.
